The name Mahal holds a universal meaning that aligns with our brand’s passion and mission. In Arabic, Mahal means a stopping place, shop, or abode. In Tagalog, Mahal means love, to love someone, valuable, or beloved. In Hawaiian, Mahal means to express gratitude, admiration, and praise.

Our Earth is our “stopping place”, our temporary “abode”, it is important “to love” our Earth, and find ways to “express gratitude” for the life and experiences while we are here.

At Mahal, our biggest mission is to help spread awareness on eco-sustainability within the fashion industry and influence other brands and consumers to be environmentally responsible. Mahal is inspired by the endless possibilities that regenerated materials can present to the fashion industry. By making one environmentally conscious decision to use only regenerated materials, we can create a bridge for organizations and brands to build a community and raise awareness.

Mahal is a high-end swimsuit brand that will embrace the collective responsibility of the negative effects of fast-fashion. We love our oceans and understand our role. Mahal will posit change by implementing recycled materials, conscious development, and ensuring sustainability at the forefront of manufacturing and retail processes. Mahal promises to present a product to our consumers free of negative environmental consequences from start to finish.

Sara is a first-generation Palestinian-American who grew up in Texas but often found herself longing to be near the ocean by taking every chance to travel to different beaches. Danae is a first-generation Filipino-American who grew up in a small beach town in Florida. She spent almost every day at the beach playing in the waves, rolling in the sand, and getting plenty of Vitamin D.
Sara and Danae bonded and soon created a sister-ship through their love of travel, bikinis, and the ocean.
